Description

I got a new set of markers and four Copics, so I thought, why in Oz not?

... I'm just going to slap the description from the previous one here because I'm too lazy YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED LONG DSCRIPTION AHEAD

Okay before you throw your paintbrushes at me, I understand that these designs are rather different from how most people perceive Elphaba and Galinda. I can explain. Hey, that one quite nearly hit my head, Monsieur!

I'll admit, although these designs are PURELY how my headcanon Elphie and Galinda are, it was based off these amazing sketches of Andre' and Firmin here doling-out-the-charm.tumblr.co…

I think I know what you're thinking. hOW in OZ are those two nerds ((ayyy they're my nerds kay OKAY I WILL NOW SHOW MYSELF OUT OF THE ROOM)) anything like Elphaba and Galinda?

Look again, I suppose. Watch Phantom 25 again, and observe the managers this time. Then try to tell me Firmin isn't sarcastic and hot-tempered like Elphaba and Andre' isn't flighty and ditzy like Galinda. Also the thing with the choice of outfits at Ozdust balls and masquerades.

Okay, so maybe it's best to explain my designs properly all the same, even before watching Phantom 25 and things, because I'm sane enough and that's not the only reason why I dig shorter, stockier Elphaba and taller, slender Galinda.

First - Elphaba. It seems that almost everyone prefers a tall, skinny Elphaba, so this reads chaos. But my headcanon Elphaba was always quite fun-sized, really, but full of personality. It's like she's this tiny spitfire of everything - temper, bitterness, cynicism, and determination. As for the stocky thing, it's my stand against stereotyping in animation and media. Elphaba kicks @$$, stands for the strange and lonely, defies gravity and it DOESN'T MATTER how she's built. She doesn't NEED to look like a supermodel. She's wicked the way she is ((pun fully intended)). Also it serves as a plot device to contrast against Galinda, and to further emphasize that she is, in most people's eyes, 'not that girl'. But for once here's a fun-sied protagonist who doesn't have to be a size 0, kicks @$$ and she's going to revolutionize thinkings in both Oz and our world. Besides, people always complain about a lack of representation in animation and media so, I hope I'm helping.
Also I figured she'd need a powerful diaphragm for belting no?Ok bye

And Galinda. Most people go with a tiny, sometimes even busty Galinda, especially with our 4"11 Kristin Chenoweth being one of the most popular ((reference fully intended again)) and well-known Galindas. But whilst that's cute, my headcanon Galinda is more than just cute, or even pretty. In the original Oz books, Galinda is unbelievably beautiful, and that was how I saw her too. Visual picture-perfection personified. So I decided to base my Galinda of the standards of stereotypical beauty - tall, thin and leggy, like a model. I also gave her really straight hair, because of those random shampoo ads in which almost everyone does a 'toss toss'. You'll also probably notice that I didn't make her really busty or anything, because I wanted to show that yes, Galinda, or anyone, doesn't need to be busty to be beautiful. Again back to the question of a lack of representation, I noticed that TRULY thin girls don't have much for them either. Again, it serves as a contrast to Elphaba. SO here - even Galinda trashes some stereotypes too.

OKAY I'M OUT PLEASE DON'T THROW PAINTBRUSHES I HOPE Y'ALL LIKE

Elphaba: "Not REALLY stupid."
Galinda: "It's a FACT not an opinion."
